Westminster College SGA Makes Donation
Student Government presents check to Callaway County United Way
FULTON, MO – The Student Government Association of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri has made a generous donation to the Callaway County United Way. Representatives from the Westminster SGA presented $850 to a CCUW Advisory Board Member on Thursday, April 17th, 2008 on the campus of Westminster College.
Westminster College President Barney Forsythe accepted the check on behalf of the Callaway County United Way. Forsythe is a member of the United Way Advisory Board. Students making the presentation were Derick Dailey, John Thomann and Alison Leibling.
“We are thrilled with this donation,” said Callaway County United Way Executive Director, Kathy Richey Liddle. “A donation this large from a student organization is further proof that the ‘generation gap’ is a thing of the past. We’re all working toward making our world a better one – and we’re starting right here in our community.”
Board President, Cathi Miller Harris agreed. “The Westminster Student Government Association contribution is a testament to the leadership on this campus. Students are looking for ways to work together to find solutions to the problems that effect our friends and neighbors. These students aren’t all from Fulton,” Miller Harris continued, “or Callaway County, or Missouri. Some of these students aren’t even US residents! But for now, through their education, they have become part of our community, and the Callaway County United Way will not soon forget this generous example of their vision for a better future for the world.”
The mission of the Callaway County United Way is to improve, consistently and measurably, the quality of life for all the people of Callaway County by raising and distributing funds, mobilizing community resources, and encouraging innovative solutions to the community's health and human service needs.
