PHONE RECYCLING HELPS UNITED WAY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Fulton, MO, April 17, 2009: The Callaway County United Way is now in the cell phone recycling business. In fact, they are in the cell phone, cell phone charger, mp3 player and other small electronics business. The United Way currently has phone recycling receptacles in multiple locations throughout Callaway County.
The benefits of recycling cell phones include reducing the number of phones manufactured globally ever year, reducing the demand for precious metals collected through environmentally destructive mining, and it ensures that the toxic materials in cell phones don’t end up in our landfills.
The Board President, Cathi Miller Harris, said “Like everyone, the Callaway County United Way is looking for more ways to go green. This is just a first step toward that goal. By giving people in Callaway County the option to recycle their old cell phones, chargers, mp3 players, we’re providing a service to our community and raising some money for our agencies.
If you would like to recycle your cell phones, please contact the Callaway County United Way at community@callawayunitedway.com, or 573-642-0536.
If your business or office would like to host a recycling box, benefitting the Callaway County United Way, please contact Executive Director, Kathy Richey Liddle at 573-642-0536.
