HOMEMAKER HEALTH CARE SUCCESS STORY

2010 Fulton, Missouri Patient

An 87 yr old female called Homemaker Health Care.  The patient stated she had pain in her leg and it was hurting when she walked.  She could not get to the Doctor.  Being on Medicaid services and a fixed income it was likely she would not have adequate means to pay for the visit.   Knowing her symptoms could be a sign of a serious problem we ask one of our nurses to stop by her home.  When the nurse arrived she noticed swelling, redness and the patient was in a lot of pain.  The nurse sent her immediately to the Emergency Room by ambulance.  The patient had a blood clot in her left lower extremity.

With the assistance of the United Way Homemaker Health Care is able to make decisions based on client need and not on whether there is the ability to pay.  We make these life saving visits everyday thanks to the United Way.
