Callaway County United Way History

Serving our community for 50 years!
Celebrating 50 Years!!
In 1957, eight men founded the Fulton United Charities. This organization allocated a little over $19,000 to 9 agencies during its first year. Eighteen years later the organization changed their name to the Callaway County United Way. While the mission stayed the same the increased support of the community grew. The 2007 goal is $220,000 and we will fund 14 agencies during 2008.
In addition to the increase in support we have also adopted several new programs over the years to include the Born Learning Campaign and 2-1-1. Born Learning provides parents and guardians of children ages birth to 5 years with valuable learning activities. The Callaway County United Way has also partnered with 8 other United Ways in the state to link Missouri residents to basic needs, physical/mental health resources, and employment support through the 2-1-1 program. With one call, residents can be assured of getting reliable, helpful and targeted help of the services available in their community. Missouri will become the 20th state to have statewide coverage.
Many things have changed over the past 50 years but one constant is the support and generosity of the people and businesses in our community. For half a century the Callaway County United Way has been serving those in need and has contributed over $4.2 million to our member agencies.
If not for the support of our donors we would not be where we are today. Thank you!
With the United Way, you’re making more than a donation—you’re making a difference!!
